More info and how to use

The texture of this gentle cleansing lotion is marvelously creamy as a result of the rich lunaria oil we’ve included in the recipe. Oil based cleansers are able to dissolve makeup and impurities while retaining the skin’s natural oil balance, thus maintaining strength and hydration.

All skin types (particularly normal to dry and sensitive skin)

Directions for use: Massage into skin and wipe off with a damp face cloth. Follow with a toner (or a warm water cloth in the absence of a toner).

KEY: *meadow grown

Wild Carrot Hydrosol - made from handpicked wild carrot seeds, distilled in small batches in our workshop. Known for its ability to cleanse, calm inflammation and promote the growth of new skin cells.

Chamomile hydrosol – made from hand-picked happy meadow-grown Roman chamomile flowers, distilled in small batches in our workshop. Known for its ability to tone the skin, gently tighten pores and soothe irritated/unhappy skin.

Lunaria (honesty) oil – the violet flowered honesty plant requires very limited treatment during its growing cycle, meaning that it has a low environmental impact. Even better, the crop has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural society as being hugely beneficial to local insect populations, thus having a positive impact on the local pollinators. When it comes to skincare, the oil of this amazing plant is an effective natural moisturiser, improving skin hydration, barrier function, skin firmness and elasticity, whilst reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

This product is packaged in a glass bottle that is suitable for refilling. When you are about to run out of product, simply order a refill. The refill will arrive in a pouch which can be transferred to the existing bottle. Note, the refill has to be transferred within a week of being received. To find out more head to our Refills and Recycling page (under the Discover tab in the menu) or read on for instructions!

1. Order: Go to our website and select 'refill' on your chosen product page.

2. Clean: Once empty, wash your existing glass container (jar or a bottle) with hot water and soap and leave to dry.

3. Refill: Once your refill arrives, simply cut the indicated corner of the refilling pouch, turn it upside down and refill the container squeezing out the entire product from the pouch into your existing glass container.

4. Recycle: Recycle the cardboard packaging that came with the refill pouch.

5. Compost*: Dispose of your compostable pouch (the metallic looking bit) in your home compost or garden waste bin*. If your local council does not offer composting and you don't have a composter at home, dispose of the pouch in the general waste bin. The pouch will break down into non-toxic bio waste.

6. In the unlikely event that you don't want to replace your product, you can simply wash your existing glass bottle/jar and place it into your glass recycling bin, and the closure/pump top into the general waste (we have been reassured that these closures will also soon be available in a recyclable option which we'll switch to as soon as it becomes available).

* We advise to check your local council guidance on disposal of compostable packaging, category EN13432.

Frequently Asked Questions

1/ Is Meadow MakeUp Remover suitable for sensitive or dry skin? Its creamy texture makes it particularly lovely for skin that prefers something gentle and comforting. Wild carrot and chamomile botanical waters are combined with nourishing honesty oil and a mild cleansing system to loosen make-up and everyday grime without leaving the skin feeling scrubbed, stripped or squeaky clean.

2/ Does Meadow MakeUp Remover remove make-up and SPF? It is formulated to dissolve make-up, surface oils and the daily build-up that accumulates on the skin. For heavier or particularly long-wearing make-up and SPF, we recommend using it as the first part of a double cleanse, followed by Peppermint Cleansing Gel if your skin enjoys a fresh second cleanse.

3/ What is the difference between Meadow MakeUp Remover and Peppermint Cleansing Gel? Meadow MakeUp Remover is creamy, nourishing and particularly suited to removing make-up or cleansing skin that leans dry or sensitive. Peppermint Cleansing Gel is fresher and lighter and works particularly well for normal, combination or unbalanced skin. Some people use one; others use both as an evening double cleanse.

4/ How do I use Meadow MakeUp Remover? Massage a small amount gently over dry or slightly damp skin to loosen make-up, oils and daily grime, then remove with warm water and a soft face cloth or reusable pad. Take a little extra care around the delicate eye area and avoid getting the product directly into the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water. If you wear heavier make-up or SPF, repeat or follow with Peppermint Cleansing Gel before continuing with your face mist, serum and moisturiser.

5/ Are the botanicals in Meadow MakeUp Remover actually grown by Seilich? Yes. We grow and hand-harvest wild carrot and chamomile from the Seilich meadow, then distil the freshly picked plants in small batches to make the botanical waters used in the cleanser. This gives us a direct connection between the plants growing outside our workshop and the skincare we make inside it.

6/ What is the benefit of Seilich growing its own skincare botanicals? Growing many of our own botanicals means we know exactly where they have come from, how they have been grown and when they were harvested. We can pick plants at the right stage, process them in small batches and turn them into floral waters and extracts ourselves, rather than relying solely on anonymous, ready-made botanical ingredients. Just as importantly, our meadow is managed as wildlife habitat first, so the plants in our skincare are grown as part of a living, diverse ecosystem rather than as a conventional crop.
